My Music Taste

Listening to and discovering new music been one of my favorite things to do in life. I listen to music whenever and wherever possible. On the bus, when I'm studying, when I'm doing chores, when I'm reading, when I'm playing videogames etc. Even now that I'm writing this I have music playing in the background. So I consider myself pretty "music literate" because believe I'm pretty open-minded to different genres of music. My earliest memories of liking some particular music track has to be when I was 5 years old watching the video clips of Eminem's Without me and Britney Spear's Toxic with my mother on the TV. I spent most of my teenage years listening to metal, mostly Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath along with Linkin Park, System Of A Down, The Prodigy and Gorillaz. Around the first year of highschool after I got past my angsty teenage phase I started being more open-minded when it comes to music. And so I started extending my musical taste, particularly liking alternative rock, the likes of the Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, The Last Shadow Puppets, Miles Kane and Franz Ferdinand along with a variety of other artists. The past years I have been listening to:
Rammstein, Naxatras, Daft Punk, Tyler The Creator, Griby, Sabaton, Slayer, Childish Gambino, DuKYS, Tame Impala, Stoned Jesus, Vilagers Of Ioannina City, 1000mods, Nightstalker, David Bowie, Motorhead, De Staat, Joji, Limp Bizkit, Mcbaise, Nirvana, Pink Guy, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Thitis, A Tribe Called Quest, UNKLE, Frank Sinatra, Warhaus, Korpiklaani, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Muse, Betzefer, Ghost, Clutch, Daron Malakian And Scars On Broadway, Kontrust and Igorr.

Concerts I Have Attended

• Megadeth (Athens 20/06/2012) - When I was 13 I was lucky to have the chance to listen to Megadeth live, along with my father. Unfortunately he forgot to bring batteries for the camera so the only proof I have of me being there is the ticket that I have kept in perfect condition after all these years. As far as I remember Megadeth's live performance was excellent and as expected from a band of their caliber and reputation.


• Arctic Monkeys & Miles Kane (Athens 06/07/2018 Rockwave Festival) - The first concert that I attended alone and one of my favorite band's first live performance in Greece. The only problem was that during that period I was serving in the army. However the first allowed leave from Cyprus that I was allowed to take came just in time for me to book my ticket and travel once again back to Athens. Getting there was a bit hard since Terravibe Park, the stage where the Rockwave Festival takes place, is located outside of Athens. Fortunately the destination was worth the trouble(see picture above). Both Miles Kane with his band and the Arctic Monkeys were absolutely phenomenal, playing until midnight. Until now no live music performance I have attended has topped the Arctic Monkeys.


• Naxatras (Thessaloniki 30/03/2019) - Naxatras, a psychedelic rock band from Thessaloniki, has been one of the most unlikely discoveries of recent years, and I had the privilege of listening to them live. The concert took place in WE, a small venue in downtown Thessaloniki, and the price of the ticket of only 8€ made me feel like I was robbing the band. Their live performance was amazing, with the trio combining their heavy and trippy riffs with a variety of light effects tying the whole experience together. Definitely a band that deserves more recognition and that I would gladly pay to watch live again.
